Unprecedented surgery in Portugal for the treatment of overactive bladder | TV interview - RTP | Dr. Ricardo Pereira e Silva
On the 22nd of November, RTP published a piece, on the program "Portugal em Direto", about a clinical case of a 20-year-old patient who suffered from overactive bladder and, consequently, from urinary incontinence, but who would not be eligible for the most indicated treatment, sacral root nerves neuromodulation, due to a malformation of the sacral bone.
The surgery proposed for the treatment had never been performed in Portugal, having been suggested by the patient himself, derived from the research he carried out on his own condition, and was sucessfully carried out at Hospital de Santa Maria, through a surgical cooperation between the surgical specialties of Urology and Neurosurgery, namely, by Dr. Ricardo Pereira e Silva and by Dr. Alexandre Rainha Campos.
