Suprapubic Prostatic Ultrasound Prostate Ultrasound / abdominal

Although the most sensitive ultrasound examination for prostate evaluation is the transrectal prostatic ultrasound, the prostate can also be evaluated via the abdominal wall. This pathway provides limited, but still, relevant information, as the volume of the prostate or its morphology in relation to the bladder.

The technique is similar to a bladder ultrasound, with the test being performed in the lying position, with a probe that abuts the skin in the suprapubic region, where an innocuous gel was previously applied. It is a fast procedure, completely painless and non-invasive. As for previous preparation, it is only necessary that the patient has a full bladder.

The test will always be performed by an Urologist doctor experienced not only in prostate imaging, but also in the medical and surgical treatment of prostate pathologies, which gives him the best sensitivity for the correct interpretation of the exam.
