Meares-Stamey 2-cup test Urine analysis before and after prostate massage

The Meares & Stamey 2-cup test is a test with high sensitivity and specificity that identifies the presence of bacteria, differentiating their origin, namely in the bladder, urethra or prostate.

In its simplified version, which consists in the analysis of two urine cups collected before and after performing prostatic massage, it allows not only to determine the presence of prostatitis (inflammation of the prostate), as well as to classify the type of chronic prostatitis, as bacterial, non-bacterial inflammatory or non-inflammatory.

This test is essential for both the diagnosis of chronic prostatitis and its correct therapeutic orientation.
